Beauty and The Beast! I saw it, should you?

I have to admit when I was a single gal…before I had children, I was a Disney movie lover. I loved FOUR movies all around the same time and I loved them hard. Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King and Beauty and The Beast.

When I heard that Disney was doing a live-action Beauty and the Beast movie, I was pretty darn excited. Disney did such a beautiful job with the new Cinderella, it’s one of my 11yo daughter and my favorite movies, that I knew this one would be good too. So yes, Beauty and the Beast? I was SO in! When I attended the Disney Social Media Moms conference last month, we got to see a sneak peek of eight minutes of Beauty and The Beast and I knew then that it was going to be good. When I was invited to a sneak peek of the entire movie, I pretty much ran to the theater! Since it was an early afternoon screening, I decided to take my four year old daughter Luna.

I picked up Luna a few minutes early from school and had her Belle dress waiting in the car because you know how our family likes to do a costume! Oh and when you sign out your child, you have to give a reason on the sign out sheet so I wrote “memories.” hee hee She didn’t even know that the movie isn’t in theaters yet. She just knew we were having a Mommy Daughter date to see the new Beauty and the Beast movie and she was excited! She sat on my lap and as the movie started, for some reason I became overcome with emotion. WHAT IN THE WORLD?! I think I just had one of those moments where I was overwhelmed with gratitude. Thankful for the invite, for getting to see the movie early and for getting to be able to share it with my daughter while she sat on my lap in her sweet Belle dress. She is so little and I knew I would remember this moment forever and I kind of wanted to just stop time. It was all just too much happy I think.

So Beauty and the Beast? What did I think? I thought it was EVERYTHING!!!

I’m not an artsy fartsy person by any means, lol, meaning I don’t know squat about art, but this is one of the most BEAUTIFUL Disney films I’ve ever seen! The costumes. The dancing. The music. The cast. Emma Watson’s voice is breathtaking. I’ve only seen Emma in the first Harry Potter movie (I know, I know, say what?!) but she is simply enchanting in this movie. The Beast (Dan Stevens) is incredible! Gaston (Luke Evans) may be my new celebrity crush! He is hot AND loveable even though you want to hate him at the same time! And Le Fou (Josh Gad), I could go on and on. He is SO funny! PS. Whatever gay chatter/controversy is out there about a new “gay character” or “gay scene” or whatever. Did I miss a memo? Didn’t Le Fou basically have like a MAJOR man crush on Gaston back in 1991?! Nothing has changed. LE FOU is just LE FOU! Plus Josh Gad is also Olaf so duh, there’s that. #Olaf4Life Sooooo please, don’t miss out on this amazing movie because of something you may hear or read. Like they say in Frozen, let it go, let it gooooo! 😉  Really, all of the cast is just so wonderful! Emma Thompson, Ewan McGregor, Audra McDonald, Ian McKellen, Stanley Tucci, Kevin Kline, Gugu Mbatha-Raw…everyone!

I really LOVED this movie! I laughed, I cried. I sat in amazement of the gorgeous Be Our Guest scene which was my personal fave! The colors, everything. It literally took my breath away.

So what about Luna, my four year old? What did she think? She really LOVED this movie too! The Beast was Luna’s FAVORITE part of the movie! She talked about him the whole way home! My favorite part of watching it with her was during the fight scene with The Beast and Gaston, she actually raised her hands and started air boxing Gaston. I almost died laughing…just hysterical! Oh and the scenes with the scary wolves or The Beast that I thought MAY be too scary for her? Nope. Not one bit. She loved it ALL!

I don’t want to tell you any more because I want you to experience the beauty and magic for yourself but I will tell you…run, don’t walk to the theaters on Friday, March 17th and see Disney’s new Beauty and The Beast. You will not be disappointed! It’s a tale as old as time.

See what I did there?!

XO Surviving Mommy

PS. Stay through the credits which are as beautiful as the movie!
