Last week our family was lucky enough to be invited to the Social Media On The Sand conference at the Beaches Resort Villages and Spa in Turks and Caicos. Only about 125 bloggers were invited with their families to be a part of this three day conference. Now remember people, it was work. HA! Ok, who am I trying to kid. Yes, it was work because it was a “work conference” but it was literally ON the beach and one of the BEST conferences I have ever been to. Ever! Who gets to go to work ON THE BEACH?! Annnnnd getting to bring my family, who I obviously worship, was the icing on the beach cake!
So why wasn’t it GREAT? Well let’s talk about what WAS great first. The hotel…Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort Villages and Spa is an all inclusive Resort and Spa…so yah, that is awesome some sauce right there! The beach and water in Turks and Caicos is some of the most beautiful beach landscape I have ever seen! Every morning was a fun conference where we learned more about the Beaches company, HP and HP’s My Printly, Sesame Street, Scholastic, The Sandals Foundation
and lots about social media in general. I met new friends, saw some old friends and chatted radio with a great radio dad and his family. We ate our faces off too. No joke, I probably gained like 5 pounds and I am ok with it! lol We had an incredible Sesame Street character breakfast where Luna was losing her mind with excitement having her first ever character experience. Oh and thought the Cookie Monster was gonna run off with my Momma Jane! hee hee Did I mention we also had themed parties every night? Nautical. 80’s and Halloween! It was ALL amazing!
Everything was REALLY great except one thing. One! Our sweet youngest daughter Luna was sick. I mean like up EVERY SINGLE NIGHT sick. By day, she was a rockstar though…it was crazy! At night though, she was coughing like she was gagging. It was awful and it was scary. I was working on about 3-4 hours of sleep per night. If you are a parent, you know you can’t sleep when your baby is in bad shape. That was hard too because at a conference, you want to be on your game but boy, was that a challenge when you are sleep-deprived. My only true worry though at that point was to get my baby better! I have to give MAJOR props to the Beaches staff. At 1:00 in the morning, we called to talk to the nurse who was obviously gone for the day and they rang her AT HOME! She was not only super kind but offered immediately to send medicine to our room and like magic it showed up! The next day we spent the afternoon with her and her staff at the nurse’s office at the Resort getting checked out and got some more help to soothe Luna’s horrible cough until we got home.
If you are looking for a wonderful place to take the whole family…(grandma too!) make sure you check out a Beaches Resort property. They had something for ALL of us! And even though Luna was sick every night, she had a crazy great time at the pools, the beach and most especially the Sesame Street character interaction! I hope we can get back someday!
